Friday March 15th

Hi Parents,

Wow what a busy but great week!

The whole class did awesome at their swimming lessons this week, learning new skills and trying new things like jumping off the diving board!

In writing this week we wrote a goal for ourselves for swimming.  We also practiced our writing through our literacy centers, where we are allowed to write about whatever we would like. Some of us are writing stories,  some of us are writing about a topic, such as school.

In math we continued our learning of addition. We practiced another strategy that can help us to add two numbers together: counting on. We learned how to use our fingers and draw dots to help us count on. We also played some math games to help us practice our counting on skills. We also realized that we can use counting on when using a number line or 100's chart.

We played BANG! to help us practice our words of the week
Our words of the week this week were: about, been, call, right
Our words of the week next week are: before, made, or, some

We also learned some word rules to help us with our reading. We learned about the "eep" sound and how when two vowels going walking together the first vowel says its name and the other is silent. For example,  words such as "near", "eat, "read" and "soap".
We also learned about the bossy "e" at the end of some words that will tap the other vowel on his head and make them say their name. For example, words such as "make", "lake" and "ride".
